The Social Security Trust Fund is empty, filled only with useless IOU’s, and senior citizens that have been forced to pay into Social Security for 50-60 years are the true victims. The Social Security Trust Fund that was supposed to have saved retirement for generations of seniors has been raided by the very people that were supposed to protect it. There is only one way to truly protect Social Security and hold firm on a promise that the U.S. Government made to its citizens, which is to create a lock box for the Social Security Trust Fund.
That is exactly why the National Seniors Council recently kicked off a letter campaign urging members of the Senate to cosponsor Senator David Vitter’s Lock Box Act of 2013, S. 110. “Everyone knows that approximately 2.6 trillion dollars has been raided by both sides of the aisle in Congress, but the finger pointing must stop today,” states National Director Rob Crone. “The only true way to build back a surplus in funding is to protect tax-payers money once and for all by creating a Social Security Lock Box.”
The time to start repairing a once thriving system is upon us, and the members and supporters of the National Seniors Council are clamoring for some sort of assurance that their Social Security benefits are safe. “It’s really our members that drive our program, and they are adamant that the time for change is now,” explains Crone, “the politicians on Capitol Hill have been pilfering seniors money for far to long, and it must stop in 2014.”
